THE BEST WOOD FLOORS

Jennifer Ashton June 26, 2024

As a devotee of both art and design, my approach to interior decorating always incorporates elements that honor a home's history, style, and functionality. Today, we will look at three magnificent types of wood flooring; exclusively from Jennifer Ashton Interiors! Each type of wood flooring bears the essence of the landscapes it originates from, perfect for bringing a piece of the world into our living spaces.

Formentera: A Mediterranean Escape

Last on our journey today is Formentera, a selection that captures the essence of the Mediterranean's enchanting blue waters and rich history. This wood flooring brings the calm and inviting atmosphere of the Balearic Islands into our homes. Known for its light, airy feel and the ability to brighten any room, Formentera is perfect for creating a relaxed, beachy vibe, irrespective of location. Formentera wood flooring is ideal for rooms that aim to be serene retreats within the home—think sunrooms, bedrooms, or even a boutique's leisure area. Its historical richness adds depth to any design, making it a perennial favorite among clients who prefer coastal elegance.

Ordesa: The Regal European White Oak

Inspired by the serene beauty of the Pyrenees Mountains, Ordesa brings the timeless splendor of European white oak into our homes. Named after a celebrated valley that reaches the skies at 3,355 meters, Ordesa flooring is as majestic as its namesake. The wood from the Quercus Sub Pyrenaica found along the border between Spain and France is known for its robust and elegant grain, making it an excellent choice for those looking to infuse a sense of stately history into their living spaces. I often recommend Ordesa for its ability to complement modern and traditional interiors, appreciating its subtle yet profound connection with nature. Its installation in a Santa Fe home can bridge the gap between the southwest's rustic charm and the European style's polished refinement.

Annapurna: Nature's Perpetual Sustenance

Drawing its name and spirit from the Annapurna range in Nepal, this flooring option is for those seeking to bring the high mountains' essence into their urban dwellings. Known as "perpetual sustenance," Annapurna wood flooring is revered for its rich, warm tones that echo the mountain's ability to nurture the lands below. The wood's deep hues and sturdy composition represent the nourishing streams that flow from these peaks, offering vitality and a constant sense of renewal.

Ideal for areas of the home that demand both durability and a touch of warmth, Annapurna floors are a favorite in retail boutiques and residential projects, where the floor needs to support high traffic and high style.

The right flooring is foundational to any beautiful space. Each of these wood floor selections offers quality and durability and carries a story that resonates with my philosophy of integrating art, history, and design. Whether updating a quaint cottage in Santa Fe or modernizing a chic boutique in Southern California, consider how these wood floors can elevate your space. I hope this exploration inspires you to bring a piece of the world's natural beauty into your home. Stay tuned for more design insights and featured favorites!
